Susuka is our family cat whom I choose from her siblings because she looked the most miserable. She also goes by Hosszú Néni which just means Long Lady but it sounds funnier in Hungarian. We got her around 2015.08. so she’s around 7 years old now but doesn’t look a year older than 2, she is very small, she’s got a large head and eyes and a veeery long body, hence the name. She goes nuts for boxes and loves peeping us from them. She also lets me use her as a hat and doesn’t mind it at all, when I put her on my head she likes sniffing around things she couldn’t reach otherwise. She is shaped like a poop when she sleeps or a perfect circle. I think she is also autistic or something. Her insta is @/hosszu_neni if you want to see more

I'm Getting Tired of Something

I don't entirely know how to write this without sounding like a fucking Autism Mom, unfortunately. I'll keep this as brief as I can, because I'm hyperempathy and the last thing I want to do is speak over a community that gets drowned out because autistic advocates leave them behind while pleading with neurotypicals to fucking respect us and stop demonizing and pathologizing us. So. I'll keep this brief.

If you are a low empathy autistic--if you do not naturally feel compelled to comfort others who are struggling, if you don't naturally feel others' emotions--please reblog this with your perspective on autistic advocates' narrative about autistic empathy. I really want to hear your perspective.

it's kind of a 50/50. sometimes the movement remembers we exist. Sometimes we're just not mentioned. Sometimes a message with an emphasis on validity and accommodation specifically prioritizes the autistics most palatable to NTs, aka normal empathy ones, and I want to McFreakin Lose It. The wider issue is not high empathy shafting lower empathy. It's the people who fit easier into NT society leaving everyone else behind because they prioritize acceptance from NTs over pushing for legally enshrined societal change which would benefit all of us but would make their NT aunt glare at them for making them remember the Undesirables exist. It doesn't matter what empathy level or support needs or verbality you have. You need better enforced discrimination protections and ease of access to accommodations and better disability pension and a better education system and the abolition of the hypermedicalized, individualist view of mental health which prioritizes assimilating one individual into an ill-suited society instead of making somewhere safe for them to live more than you need NTs to like you. Because when NTs like you, they still don't accomodate you. They treat you like a weirder NT, and nobody really benefits from that.

Can we please stop associating being a good person with how much you're willing to suffer in silence for other people? You can be a kind person and still say "no, I don't have the time/energy to help you with that." You can be a kind person and still say "this makes me uncomfortable, please stop." You can be a kind person and still say "I disagree and here's why." You can be kind and still say "I'm not okay with this." Being kind is about treating people with kindness and respect, not about being the human equivalent of a doormat!

This is my final project for a summer English class I’m taking! Once everything’s graded, I’ll finally have an associate degree.

I hope you guys enjoy the comic. It has devoured my week. As always, reblogs are greatly appreciated!

EDIT: I’m really glad this comic is resonating with so many people! From all of you guys’ many comments, it looks like this is something that many of you relate to. It’s prompting more discussion than anything else I’ve ever made, no contest—it has more comments by far than pieces with with tens of thousands more notes, and they’re all very interesting and informative.

So if anybody is feeling alone in this, go ahead and look through the tags and replies! Looks like we’re all in this confusing little boat together.

abortion rights dont have jack shit to do with whether or not a fetus is a person. its a completely irrelevant debate.

you arent obligated to donate your blood- a thing that causes no harm to you. you dont have to donate a kidney, even if you could save someones life. at the end of the day, if a fetus is a person then it has no right to live inside the body of another person, and the state cant mandate that you give up your bodily resources to sustain another life.

bsideheart

If you are asked to donate a kidney to save someone's life, you say no, and the person dies, no one calls that murder. In fact, they would be outraged if you were forced to donate that kidney against your will. That would be seen as a huge violation of your rights. Abortion is the exact same scenario.
